Day 5: Stavanger, Norway
The ship arrives at Stavanger at 08:00 and departs at 18:00
Stavanger is a Norwegian coastal city on the Stavanger Peninsula, bordering the beautiful fjord of Boknafjorden. This Northern Europe Cruises destination is known for its characterful wooden houses, cultural museums, and 12th-century cathedral. Stavanger is also the perfect gateway for touring the region’s many wonders. Visit the extraordinary Preikestolen, the Swords in the Rock monument, and the spectacular Lysefjord.
Take an excursion to Hafrsfjord, the historical site of King Harald Fairhair’s battle. See the impressive 'Sverd i Fjell' — a monument commemorating the infamous 872 clash which united the kingdom of Norway. Symbolising peace, unity, and freedom, you’ll admire the monument’s three bronze swords rising 10m from the ground. Afterwards, explore the area of Hafrsfjord on a leisurely bicycle or Pedelec ride.
The Stavanger Archipelago, off Norway’s atmospheric coastline, is abundant with spectacular wildlife. An excursion will take you to Lysefjord by boat, where you can admire the rugged landscapes. Later, arrive at Preikestolen, also known as the Pulpit Rock, a breathtaking cliff rising dramatically above the fjord. Here you’ll take in unforgettable Nordic panoramas. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
If you’re an outdoors enthusiast, enjoy an excursion through the mountainous landscapes of Norway to the picturesque Preikestolen cliff — one of the world’s most spectacular viewpoints! Located in Rogaland, this geological wonder was formed around 10,000 years ago during the Ice Age. Towering over Lysefjord, the Pulpit Rock offers panoramic views that are truly mesmerising. Gaze at the scenery, photograph its beauty, and pause for a moment of silence.
