Day 1: Piraeus

Embarkation on MSC Poesia from Piraeus port. Ship departs at 18:00.



Day 2: At Sea

Day 3: Palermo, Italy

The ship arrives at Palermo port at 08:00 and departs at 16:00

Having been the crossroads of civilisations for millennia, Palermo delivers a heady, heavily spiced mix of Byzantine mosaics, Arabesque domes and frescoed cupolas. This is a city at the edge of Europe and at the centre of the ancient world, a place where souk-like markets rub up against baroque churches, where date palms frame Gothic palaces and where the blue-eyed and fair have bronze-skinned cousins.


Day 4: Civitavecchia (Rome)

Discover the culture and colour of Civitavecchia. This Italian gem is an enjoyable flight from many European and non-European cities. Celebrated for its 16th-century Michelangelo Fort, ancient Taurine Baths, and marble Vanvitelli fountain, the port is a convenient starting point for visiting Rome, Italy’s regal and romantic capital.

Not far from Civitavecchia lies Rome, one of the world’s most distinguished cities. Be entranced by its many architectural wonders including the famous Colosseum. An ancient amphitheatre in the centre of the capital, built between 70 and 80 AD, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was commissioned by Roman Emperor Vespasian to entertain more than 50,000 people!  

The Trevi Fountain is an icon of Rome, a Baroque beauty uniting architecture, sculpture, rocks, and water. Admire the spectacle on an excursion and see this 18th-cenury landmark close-up.  Showcasing mythological figures, including Triton on a shell-shaped chariot, the Trevi Fountain is an Italian masterwork. This landmark structure has featured in films such as La Dolce Vita and Roman Holiday. 
A journey to Rome isn’t complete without a visit to Vatican City, located in the heart of the Italian Capital. Visit the St. Peter's Square, St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and the Sistine Chapel.


Day 5: Genoa, Italy

The port city of Genoa, MSC Mediterranean Cruises an destination, is the gateway to Italy’s glamorous riviera. Wander down its winding medieval alleyways, take in historical, Piazza Matteotti, and admire a magnificent cluster of 16th and 17th-century buildings. Genoa’s heritage as a naval power is evident in La Lanterna, a historical lighthouse built in 1543. Beyond the city, romantic towns can be found nestled along the coastline, including the gelati-coloured Portofino.

The ship arrives at Ephesus port at 09:00 and departs at 19:00

Take a journey into the past in richly historic Ephesus. Once an ancient Greek city, Kusadasi was known for the famed Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built, destroyed, and rebuilt again through several notably historical periods, Ephesus boasts abounding ruins and archaeological excavation sites. View what remains of the Roman Library of Celsus, the Gate of Augustus, the Tomb of John the Apostle, and the Basilica of St. John, amongst several other ancient remnants.

Ephesus is one of the main centres of early Christianity. St. Paul remained in the city for three years during his third missionary journey. The Apostle John also came to Ephesus to live and was finally buried here.

The Bosphorus courses the waters of the Black Sea, the Sea of Marmara, and the Golden Horn through the city's heart.

Discover opulent museums, sail cobalt blue waterways, or sample delectable cuisine in an atmospheric restaurant.

Explore Topkapi Palace, Istanbul’s masterpiece museum, home to the Ottoman sultans in the 15th and 16th centuries. Boasting four courts, a harem complex, and an imperial treasury, this architectural icon seduces the eye with its fairy tale turrets, mesmerising mosaics, glorious gardens, and the fifth biggest diamond in the world: the 86 carat Spoonmaker.

Seafood lovers can experience an authentic taste of Istanbul with a visit to Kumkapi. This vibrant institution is home to a vast range of fish restaurants serving up the freshest catches of the day in buzzing al fresco environs.
