While your stay in Kirkwall you will hear fascinating war stories of the British naval fleet. You’ll discover Orkney’s dramatic cliffs, ancient stone circles, and a small chapel built by Italian prisoners of war as a symbol of hope and peace.

St. Magnus Cathedral, the northernmost cathedral in Great Britain, dominates Kirkwall’s humble skyline. This 12th-century, red-sandstone building is affectionately known as the ‘Light of the North’.
